AccessibilityNEW, PAGE-VERIFIED (Chicago Botanic Garden 'Accessibility at the Garden' page, read in full): wheelchairs are available free at the Information Desk in the Visitor Center. Accessible parking is in parking lots 1 and 2. Nearly all areas of the Garden are accessible by wheelchair, as are the tram tours. Electronic Convenience Vehicles (ECVs) are available for rent — members $15, nonmembers $20, quantities limited; the ECV is a single-person chair only and young children are not allowed to operate or ride on it; operators must be 16 or older (ages 16-18 need a valid driver's license and a parent/guardian over 21 signature), scooter training is required and a release form must be signed. ECV restrictions (verbatim in substance): ECVs cannot be used in inclement weather, on tram tours, in restrooms, on turf, in Greenhouses, on the Arched Bridge to the Malott Japanese Garden, on the Linnaeus sculpture path in the Heritage Garden, or at the Waterfall Garden, Spider Island or the Farwell Landscape Garden; users must stay on designated pathways and return the ECV before sundown. Service animals are welcome; no pets. The Buehler Enabling Garden is a teaching garden for people of all abilities (raised beds and container gardens demonstrating techniques for wheelchair users). Accessible restrooms are in the Visitor Center, the Regenstein Center and the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden; both outdoor decks of the Garden View Café are wheelchair accessible. An Accessibility Map is linked from the page.
