Tickets & bookingDay-use picnic areas are first-come, first-served; four shelters are reservable (electrical outlets, picnic tables, volleyball court; the Rotunda Shelter has a central firepit). Groups with events beyond simple gatherings must contact the park at (425) 649-4275 and obtain a Special Activity Permit. Individual camping is not permitted; the Hans Jensen Group Camp is reservable online. For kayak, paddleboard and pedal-boat rentals at Tibbetts Beach, reservations are highly recommended - boats go fast on sunny days.
ParkingA Discover Pass is required for day-use parking: one-day pass $10, annual pass $45, transaction fees may apply; one pass can be used by two vehicles but is valid for only one vehicle at a time (Washington State Parks Discover Pass page). Automated pay stations are listed for Lake Sammamish at the boat launch, entrance, and Tibbets Beach. A permanent disability parking placard entitles the holder to free parking in Washington State Parks. Accessible parking specifics (Disabled Hikers Guide): Sunset Beach has ADA accessible parking in seven sections with paved spaces, access aisles and accessible routes to the sidewalk; Tibbetts Beach has eight accessible spots including one van-accessible spot, but the lot surface is mostly cracked and uneven; the Kitchen Shelter lot has about 40 spots, two designated accessible (one van-accessible), on a slope with rough pavement.
AccessibilitySunset Beach has recently undergone major accessibility improvements: ADA accessible parking, accessible picnic tables and shelters, single-user restrooms, and a wide sidewalk and paved path along the lake, plus a generally accessible wetlands trail and an accessible kayak launch with handrails (no transfer bench found by the guide). Sunset Beach has four all-gender, accessible family restrooms with grab bars and child-size changing tables and 34-inch doors; Tibbetts Beach restrooms are NOT wheelchair accessible, and no connecting route in the park is fully accessible end-to-end, so the guide advises parking at the area you plan to visit (Disabled Hikers Guide, parks.wa.gov). Free adaptive cycling: Outdoors for All offers free adaptive bike rentals (recumbent trikes, handcycles, tandems) at the Sunset Beach bath house, May 1 - Sept. 30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., last rentals at 5:30 p.m., no reservation necessary, first-come first-served (park page). Action Trackchair: a free all-terrain tracked chair for people with mobility needs is available at the Adaptive Cycling Center at Sunset Beach, daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until late September (2025 season), first-come-first-served, for participants ages seven and up; battery runs about two hours, a companion must assist with transfers (staff cannot), and users must sign a waiver and leave a government-issued ID (State Parks press release, April 10, 2025).
Family facilitiesPlaygrounds are located at Sunset Beach and Tibbetts Beach. Barbeque grills, unsheltered picnic tables and one sheltered picnic table are available at the Sunset and Tibbetts beach areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Sunset Beach has accessible family restrooms with child-size changing tables (see accessibilityDetail).
Official tipsThere is no directional signage once you enter the park, so check the map before you arrive: Tibbetts Beach is on the left just past the ranger office, the Kitchen Shelter Area is on the right just past Tibbetts Beach, and Sunset Beach is at the end of the entrance road (Disabled Hikers Guide).
Seasonal notesThe park page directs visitors to the Winter Schedule page for seasonal closures and off-season operational changes. Lake Sammamish Paddle Co. rentals at Tibbetts Beach are open 7 days a week from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and on weekends in September and October, weather permitting. Adaptive cycling runs May 1 - Sept. 30; the Action Trackchair season runs from mid-April to late September.
